The Hummer Knowledge Base
As you all know, we have had our share of tire balancing problems. Well, there is a sure fire way to save your tires from abnormal wear and vibration. I have been working with the Goodyear Tire truck centre here in Toronto, and they have solved the problem. First a little history. Over the past THREE (3) years I have had my GS-A'S balanced by them four times, with very little improvement each time, so last week I called them up and made yet another appointment to get them rebalanced again. We discussed the ongoing balancing problems, and what could be done to fix it once and for all. Here is the final solution. There is a new product on the market called "EQUAL". It is a dry, granular polymer (sand like) product which they are testing on all of their large truck installations with very good results. So, they installed Equal in my four tires at NO cost to me, as a test. The street price per wheel here in Canada is $25.00. I think this is very cheap, as you only have to install it once for the life of your tires. Equal is installed through the valve stem with a special device, no need to demount your tires or wheels from the truck, and only takes five minutes per wheel. The road test... Right from the very first few yards I could tell that this is the only answer!!!! As you drive your tires are constantly being balanced, and as they wear due to normal wear Equal, moves to were it needs to be and makes the changes as you drive all the time. The change to the ride and feel of my truck has been dramatic. SMOOTH, SMOOTH, all the vibrations and tire bouncing are GONE. I use 30 psi on all four wheels, and these are the orginal tires that the truck came with NEW. The mileage to date is 40,000 miles, and if all goes well I should get another 40,000 miles. Equal is marketed by: INTERNATIONAL MARKETING INC.,
sorry no address or phone number on the package. Give it a try, you will be pleasantly surprised.......

An air dryer would have to be installed somewhere in the CTIS system to provide dry air.

Well, they have just the item for that, it's an inline drier, and inline filters to prevent blockage of the CTIS. Now just how well it will mix with the older RunFlats that have the grease packages I do not know, but I know after having see the inside of mine and seeing the grease here and there, I would now use it. But I am going to try it on my other truck and see just how well it works (It's a Suburban, no runflats or CTIS). It if works as well as the Centramatics did for me, it should work just as good. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
