The 3L80 is a turbo 400. The 4L60E is a turbo 700-R4. GM changed the naming convention.

3 - 3 speed
4 - 4 speed
L - longintudinal (rear wheel drive)
T - transverse (front wheel drive)
60 - strength factor (weak)
80 - strength factor (strong)
E - electronic control
