Bellville Halfshaft Lock Washers:

AMG current recommendation for halfshaft bolt lock washers is the Nordlock two-piece cam-type lock washer.

Along with several others, I have been using a Bellville lock washers for some time. I have not heard of any problems using these lock washers, but AMG has had several dealers report loose bolts on trucks using these lock washers.

Since several of us have had no problems, I deduce that there most likely is some other reason for some of these lock washers to fail to work correctly. Perhaps the Nordlocks are more forgiving of incorrect torque settings, or perhaps failures with them are underreported. Difficult to know.

I recommend to everyone who is using the Bellville lock washers to be particularly careful to use the correct torque setting when installing the halfshaft bolts, and to use the correct loctite. Actually, this is good advice regardless of the type of lock washer used.

I'd also like to hear from people using the Bellville lock washers. Please let me know if you have had any problems with them.
