The Hummer Knowledge Base
Allocate a day, maybe a weekend. Stage 1:
Stage 2:
Stage 3: Insulate the underside of the tunnel. Especially around the shifter, transmission, and areas forward of the rear seats. Stage 4: Insulate the drivers and passenger's side kick panels up to the windshield frame with Dynamat or other material (spray stuff may work better, but be careful of over spray. Stage 5: Insulate the roof. Pay particular attention to the forward corners. Insulate from the windshield back to the B pillar at least. If heat is an issue (you are in the south) insulate the entire roof for a cooler ride. Stage 6: Insulate the area under and around the CITS pump/washer bottle. Insulate the area below/inside the air intakes on passenger's side. Stage 7: Insulate all exposed sheet metal on the body that is not exposed to the outside (engine compartment, tunnel, wheel wells, etc. Make sure there are no holes such as the holes left when you remove your cargo tie down loops for example. Reinstall your drain holes. Now... Your hummer should be about as quiet as an Alpha--mine is! I can talk without raising my voice and my wife only has to yell at me in a reasonably loud voice (which is true even when not in the Hummer!!!) Peter
