Blower Motor Replacement:

I can confirm one cheap solution for those who are constantly changing blower motors - NAPA part # 455-1744 is a perfect match for the blower motor in a Hummer with the HVAC upgrade - you just have to swap the squirrel cage from your original motor (only have to remove and reinstall one nut...very easy).

It is a very easy job... all you need is a Phillips head screwdriver to remove and re-install the blower motor, and a small ratchet/socket set to change the squirrel cage from one blower motor to the other one.

  1. Remove black ABS plastic access panel (at the feet of the passenger front) - when it is off you will be staring right at the back of the blower motor.

  2. Unplug the two electrical connectors that go to the back of the blower motor.

  3. Pull Remove the small rubber "hose" that goes into the base of the blower motor.

  4. Remove all the screws that hold the blower motor at the edges; support the blower motor as you remove the last of them. One of the screws will also hold on an "L" shaped electrical contact - make sure you don't lose it!

  5. Slide blower motor straight out (it will fall when all the screws are removed

  6. Use a small ratchet/socket to remove the nut that holds the squirrel cage onto the motor, and slide the cage straight off - do this on the old and the new blower motor.

  7. Install old cage on new motor, secure with the nut.

  8. Reverse steps 1-5 to reinstall blower motor.

It is a piece of cake.

The Advance Auto and Autozone part number for the the motor is 35582. I purchased the one from Advance. It was made in Canada and wired it the same way as factory.
