Types of Tops:

Having owned a '99 open top with the heavy insulated top, I can tell you that there is a huge difference between bikini tops, mesh tops, and insulated factory tops. I owned and used all three.

The insulated tops are difficult to put on and make you feel like you are in a cave. They are quiet, but their weight and hassle factor, make it easy to decline to remove the top if you are going out for a night.

The bikini tops (mine came with a removable rear mesh screened window) roll up into a ball the size of a basketball, and are very easy to put on and remove. They let in a lot of light and are reasonable at keeping the rain out.

The mesh tops let in a lot of sun and weight about 2#.

I try to remove the heavy insulated top by April and put it back on around November. In the interim, I carry the bikini or mesh tops. Aside from the ease of install/removal, the extra light makes the wide vehicle much more desirable to ride in.
