Crank Sensor:

I called AMG a few days ago and they suggested checking the "crank sensor". They indicated that it is not unheard of that that sensor cracks due to the heating and cooling of the engine. If this sensor gets moisture in it, it can give an incorrect signal, thereby preventing fuel from being injected. This, eventhough the fuel pump is going put-put-put. The crank sensor is located on the lower left side of the engine crankcase assembly, near the front and it has a wire attached to it. It can be readily seen from beneath the engine. I can't find it in the service manual but it is in the parts manual (CD) on page 2-14 (engine chapter in the '99 CD).
