12-volt and 24-volt Battery Connections:

In a 24-volt military vehicle, two 12-Volt batteries would need to be connected + to - (in series) to get 24 volts.

In a 12-volt vehicle they are connected + to + and - to - (in parallel) to achieve higher amperage while remaining at 12 volts.
